If you have been tinkering around the internet for the past couple of years, I am, sure you must have stumbled upon the term search engine optimization (SEO). The term has been bouncing around for quite a while now. In fact, it is even one of the criteria by which websites aspire to meet – a website that meets SEO standards is sure to generate a lot of traffic from the right audience. If you are new to the world of internet marketing and would like your new website to meet current SEO standards, here are a few resources to help you out.
Google is probably the most popular search engine today. And almost, if not, all SEO standards strive to meet Google search’s qualifications – how to be recognized as a legitimate website and how to get the coveted top ranks in the search engine’s results page. To get you started with making your website up to par with the standards, I suggest a quick read through of Google’s SEO Guidelines. Although it is not really recommended to do everything that the guide says, it is a good start at getting to know how to go about with making your website SEO-compliant and leaning about the basics of doing so.
In relation to this guide, you might also want to consider Search Engine Guide for a more generalized and wider range of SEO. This time, it is a collection of articles posted by professional SEO experts who give general tips on how to make the most of SEO and get noticed in any of the existing online search engines. These articles are usually posted from the SEO experts own experiences at running their own websites, so the tips and tricks are timely and incredibly useful.
While articles on tips and tricks of the SEO world are greatly helpful, it is also a good idea to get involved in forums and discussion boards that focus on important and relevant topics related to SEO. One such forum is Webmaster World, one of the oldest go-to places on the web that a lot of internet marketers actually trust. Here you will find relevant discussions on specific topics where a lot of actual and real people discuss and talk about. You can get on the site and find the topics that interest you. You can also read through member’s discussions, or you can join in and actively participate – start a discussion thread regarding your problem or a topic that you want clarified and get ideas and suggestions from others, or join an existing topic thread and voice out your opinion or share what you know. You will need to subscribe, though, and it is not free. But the insights and information you gain more than compensates for the fee that you have to pay for.
